The Williamson County Astronomy Club serves the Williamson County and North Austin (Texas) suburban corridor including the communities of Austin, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Hutto, Jollyville, Leander, Liberty Hill, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Sun City, and Taylor.
We are a small, informal club with a diverse membership of all ages who share an interest in astronomy and the space sciences. Our goals are to further the knowledge of and interest in astronomy within our community while enjoying the wonders of the universe. Visitors are always welcome at our monthly meetings. Please feel free to join us and share our common interest.
Membership is open to those of all ages with an interest in astronomy or the space sciences. We do not charge any club dues or membership fees.
A full-fledged member is simply anyone who regularly attends more than about six meetings per year.
Visitors are always welcome at meetings.
Meetings are always held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM.
Meetings may be held virtually online and / or in person. Contact us for more details.
Meetings usually include informal discussions, club announcements, and one or more presentations covering some aspect of astronomy or space science.
The club holds monthly Meeting Programs, Private Members-Only Observing Outings, and Public Outreach Observing Sessions.
Public events are held in concert with Georgetown and Williamson County Parks Departments. Geogetown's Garey Park and the Berry Springs County Park (currently under construction for park upgrades) host public observing during non-Summer months.
