Williamson County Astronomy Club

Meeting Format


Monthly meetings of the  Williamson County Astronomy Club consist of several activities including informal member and visitor interaction, announcements of upcoming club activities and events, and more formal presentations with subject matter of interest to beginners and experts alike.

Introductions / Conversation / Networking

[~30 minutes (7:00 PM - 7:30 PM)]
Each meeting starts with attendee arrivals and general conversations during which members and visitors get to know one another and share recent astronomy experiences.

Club Business Discussion & Announcements

[~30 minutes (7:30 PM - 8:00 PM)]
After the free-form discussion period, the meeting is called to order. General announcements and club business is briefly discussed. It is during this time that planning for any public or private observing events is discussed.

Beginner and Visual Astronomy Topic

[~30 minutes (8:00 PM - 8:30 PM)]
Members and visitors can present astronomy-related field reports or lead question and answer sessions regarding visual astronomy and general topics that should be of interest to beginners in the hobby.

Intermediate Astronomy or Astrophotography Topic

[~30 minutes (8:30 PM - 9:00 PM)]
A short prepared presentation is given by a guest speaker or member touching on an intermediate level topic in astronomy or space science.

Quarterly Advanced Astronomy Topic

[~60 minutes (8:00 PM - 9:00 PM)]
Four times per year, an advanced or in-depth presentation is given by a guest speaker or club member. This presentation takes the place of the usual Beginner and Intermediate level portions of the meeting.
