"All About NEOs -- Part 2" - Bob Read, Club Member
Club Member Bob Read will discuss the detection, study and importance of Near Earth Objects (NEOs) which may pose a risk to Earth.

March 7, 2013

"A Survey Of Commercial Mounts" - Scott Carson, Club Member
Club Member Scott Carson will present a survey of commercial telescope mounts available to both visual and photographic observers today.  A number of representative mounts will be on view courtesy of other club members.

April 4, 2013

"Atmospheric Entry Acoustics" - Jeff Foreman, Club Member
Club Member Jeff Foreman will use his physics background to present an analysis of audio from the recent entry of the Russian Meteor and explain what we can learn from the data.  He will also use his personal recordings of the shuttle Columbia re-entry to further illustrate what can be gleaned from audio recordings of such events.

"Star Party Preparation Tips" Multiple Club Members
Multiple club members will give short reports on how they prepare for a star party.  Tips and ideas may cover the areas of how to tune up your equipment, how to plan an observing session, checklists of items to bring, and other personal reflections on what makes an outing more fun and rewarding.

"Meteor Logging With An iPad / iPhone" - Bob Beal, Club Member
Club member Bob Beal shows how he used the Codea game-development app on an Apple iPad tablet computer to create a touch-enabled astronomy application for collecting and analyzing meteor statistics.

"Automated Image Acquisition" - Jared Wellman, Main Sequence Software
Collecting photons, preserving your sanity, and having the time to actually look up!  Jared Wellman, Co-Founder of Main Sequence Software will go through the basics of imaging automation and build on top of that through some more advanced techniques to include mosaics and observatory automation.

Lauren Gonzalez, Astronomical League Coordinator for the Austin Astronomical Society, will discuss the various observing programs and awards available through the AL.

"Eldorado Star Party - Members' Trip Reports" - Multiple Club Members
Club members will give presentation on their experiences at the Eldorado Star Party.  Some members attend to enjoy relaxed observing under very dark skies while others devote themselves to a multi-night marathon imaging session.
